The Science of Well-Being: Inflammation’s Role in Anxiety, Depression, Chronic Pain, & Suffering
Three-Day Virtual Intensive with 7-Day Access to Download the Recordings
This course combines neuroscience, psychology, immunology, biology, and social justice with the traditions of yoga and mindfulness to address anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and more. I’ll address how inflammation is a root cause of human suffering- and what we can do to alleviate it.
You’ll also have the option to sign up for my signature online course Yoga, Mindfulness, Neuroscience, & the Body and receive a 60-hour certificate.
Immunity, Emotional Health, & Collective Well-Being
Over the last decade, science has shed new light on the factors that lead to well-being, but some of the most important insights haven’t yet reached mainstream understanding. Until recently, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and addictions have been viewed as purely genetic and biochemical problems and managed with talk therapy and medication. This course considers revolutionary research that supports an alternative root cause: inflammation, an important aspect of well-being that, when unchecked, can be hazardous to our health.
In this three-day immersion, we’ll examine inflammation’s impact on the mind-body relationship and the role it plays in suffering. We’ll look at the causes, correlations, and mindsets regarding common mental health issues. We’ll come to understand how yoga, embodiment, mindfulness, and lifestyle changes can empower the mind-body connection to boost physical, emotional, and social well-being.
You’ll learn about:
- The emerging science of the mind-body relationship
- What inflammation is, where it occurs, and how to manage it
- The role of inflammation in anxiety, depression, chronic pain, arthritis, and other mind-body illnesses
- The gut microbiome and its influence on mood and immunity
- The connections between sleep, brain health, inflammation, and emotional balance
- How inflammation affects relationships, and methods that can manage it
- How yoga, mindfulness, and body-based contemplative practice can reduce inflammation and promote well-being
- Our social body (the relationships that define our collective) and “social immune system,” and how racial and gender awareness help to lower social inflammation and support social health
Throughout the immersion, I’ll integrate cutting-edge research from neuroscience, psychology, sociology, and social justice with practical insights, life-altering prescriptions for personal health, and direct application to the urgent problem of human suffering.
Unlike most workshops these days, which offer the ability to watch replays for a certain period of time, we’re giving you something more: the ability to download all the materials for a period of seven days (so you can keep and review them forever). In addition, you’ll receive a copy of the powerpoint presentation.
